Had he done that someone would then complain that he should be busy working on new music. . . he just can't win.
Had he done that only a couple of frustrated fans would complain about how Bono should be working on new music. Most haters would say that he was being a hypocrite, using Sandy for his own personal gain. But you're right; he can't win, so it's a good thing he didn't get involved.
