That's impressive! And here I thought you all were much more socialist than we. Guess I was wrong! Go UK!!
Unfortunately, it's an awful lot worse than it looks. TD has cited a few selective facts without placing them in context.
The UK's GDP growth has been slower and worse than Japan, the USA or even the Eurozone over the past two years. We have also created less jobs than the USA over that period. Plans to reduce the deficit are also very badly behind schedule; TD notes that it has fallen by a quarter, however it was meant to have fallen by over a half under the government's plans, and they have badly lagged. They projected it would be gone under their plan by 2015; it will not be gone until 2019 at the very earliest. For half of 2012, we were actually back in recession again, with a net negative of growth.
This graph summarises it quite well;
As you can see, the UK's growth was about on pace with the EU's or the USA's until 2010, when we embarked on our current poorly concieved deficit reduction program and veered into a holding pattern scarcely better than the EU's but at a lower rate to begin with. Growth lower than expected, job creation lower than expected, and the deficit much higher than expected; a pretty clear story of failure, unfortunately for us. :/
