Maybe we should have a litmus test for U2 fandom.

"Are you a Christian and do you agree with U2 at every turn and on every topic?"

If yes. Cool. You pass. You can call yourself a U2 fan.

What about people like me? I'm a Christian but I don't agree with U2 at every turn and on every topic.

Then you're not a true fan and have no business being here.  Clearly it's just about the drum beats for you and that's not encouraged.

Ya, maybe it is about the drum beats. I was driving the other day, had Desire on really loud, and remember thinking how much I love Larry's beat in that song.

You don't have to be a resident of a country to state your opinion on what the government do, you just don't have the right to vote on the matter. How close-minded do you have to be to only hold an interest in what's going on in your own country.

I'm sure Brits would live have rich American movie star tax evaders lobby Cameron for budget monies to go to their pet projects rather than go towards helping people at home.

You dont have to agree with him. But hes allowed to campaign for his beliefs etc. And why not if they are on good moral ground.

Regarding American, trillions upon trillions have been spent on pointless overseas wars, which only caused more hatred towards America around the world. Sending out some good vibes now and again, aint a bad idea.

And on that issue... when you talk about people overseas... hundreds of thousands of people in my country marched against the Iraq war...and millions all over the world. Your country didnt listen to us then... so when wheres the harm in a rockstar campaigning for what he things is right.

He can campaign. Doesn't mean we have to listen. Or like it. Or give in to it.

You may want to remember this when the next inevitable "why do so many people not like bono" thread rears its ugly head.

As for wars, yeah well many of us here didn't agree with some of them either. But the difference is that it was a decision by our elected officials, that's how a democracy works.

Honestly wouldn't bother me. I'm sure plenty of people would complain though.

Would probably bother you more if they give in and then raise petrol or beer tax a bit more though I'd bet.

I was talking to Bono last night on the phone, and I told him that every time I heard a snippet of news about him that was not U2-related, that I would illegally download some new artist's music.

Bono doesn't mind campaigning in other people's countries for his pet causes but he doesn't seem to like it when groups protest him and his band, like when UK Uncut protested U2's tax avoidance at Glastonbury last year.

These kind of discussions are like a lawn; they need mowing every so often.
