well...this is interesting. Seems Metallica is seriously considering staging the next edition of their Orion Music + More festival here in the Detroit area - specifically, on Belle Isle:   http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=183950

Personally, you couldn't pay me to see Metallica at this point, but if it brings $$$ into the city, I'm all for it.   8)

2012 was pretty good. Saw Bad Company, JackyL, Def Leppard/Poison, and the Boss.

Bruce was the best concert I've ever attended!

They got the approval:   http://www.blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=184084     ...which is kinda amazing, considering that The Eagles (1994), Bob Seger (1996) and Radiohead (2003) all tried to hold shows at the very same park and failed to get permission. Shows you how desperate for $$$ the city's government is at this point.

Oh, and if you're interested in attending, Metallica will be hosting this fest here in the D through 2015.

Added them to my Pandora Station when I saw they were opening for Muse.  The few songs I've heard have been pleasant enough, but a little heavy and plodding.  After re-visiting some of the Muse discography on a long drive today, I'm pretty excited for this show, so if Band of Horses is awesome that'll just be a bonus.

Sort of a last-minute surprise to my concert agenda: I'm seeing Shirley Manson front a sort of all-star band this Friday, performing as "Sons of the Silent Age", doing all David Bowie covers.  Opening acts are doing T Rex and Kraftwerk, respectively.  I'm intrigued and excited.
