U2 playing at "New Dawn for Humanity" Summit?

This article says that U2 will play at the "New Dawn for Humanity" Summit in Tikal, Guatamala with Bruce Springsteen and Elton John, has the band confirmed this?

I haven't heard of or read any confirmation. However, I do believe they will surprise us with the new album on December 21.. And we...we were acting like it was the end of the world  8)

After I found this, I looked up the summit, other news sources such as Fox also list U2 as performers...weird how there hasn't been any announcement from the band.

When the summit was initially announced over the summer the origanizers said they were inviting U2 to play. I don't think anyone, in the journalism world, has followed up properly on the story and actually confirmed that the band will be playing the summit. Especially since the band hasn't confirmed, denied or acknowledged that they know anything about it.

I think we all know this won't be happening.  Every time there's some sort of little-known charity show or festival everyone suggests U2 as a very likely performer, but it never happens, although we do get Bono and Edge playing "One" every so often.
U2 seem "out of shape" at the moment.  We've seen them holidaying (with expanding waistlines and yellow pants) and nowhere near a studio.  I don't see them playing a gig after months of maybe doing nothing. (Admittedly we don't actually know what they've been doing, I'm just guessing they're not in musical mode)
