I never cared much about Prince, yet several of you have him on your top 10. Could you please give me 5 tracks I should listen to in order that I might appreciate him more? Thanks!

When Doves Cry
Little Red Corvette
Sign 'O' The Times
Controversy - probably my favorite of the ones I know
Girls & Boys
Kiss - like this one
The Ballad of Dorothy Parker
Raspberry Beret
Musicology
Colonized Mind

But really, it all depends if on you're hip to the funk.

I know the bolded ones already.  Growing up, I always loved the funk, especially The Ohio Players and early Kool and the Gang, so maybe.  ;)

Prince likes snippeting Love Rollercoaster during his shows.

I can't find him on Youtube. I did find one site and heard a bit of Sign 'O' The Times and it sounded good.
Going to check for him on Spotify now.

I'm surprised at how many songs I do know. I still don't see me hitting fandom status, but hey, I LOVE Pop now. So...

The thing about Prince is that he reveals his true genius live in concert.  For me, Prince and U2 are the greatest live acts ever.  While he is a prolific recording artist, his post 80s work is patchy.  He greatest period is between 1979 - 1987.  I think Sign 'O' The Times, Parade, Purple Rain, 1999 and Dirty Mind are his best albums.

So far, listened to Beautiful Ones, Adore, Boys & Girls, Sign 'O' the Times. Of those I like the latter two most. The former two he does too much of an Adam Levine style and I cannot stand AL!!!

I knew you would.  G&B is Kristen Scott Thomas' favourite song and SOTT is Beverley Knights.

Prince is a particularly good artist is you're of a religious persuasion.

Check out The Cross, The Ladder, Colonized Mind and Anna Stesia and well, pretty much a lot of stuff.  The Lovesexy and Rainbow Children albums are his most overtly spiritual.

You knew, did you?!  ;)  Love Kristen Scott Thomas. :) Spotify did not have Musicology nor Colonized Mind...

What does it mean if I like It? Love The Cross -  it's like Bono helped him w/ the lyrics and AIWIY inspired the guitars along w/ Jimi and George. The Ladder - meh. Can't find Anna Stesia also.

Bono dueted with Prince on The Cross at Prince's 'aftershow' gig in Dublin in 1995, as it happens.

The Cross sounds absolutely stonking live.
