Year made!

I don't even care if Tool gets their new album out this year now. Skinny Puppy is right up there with U2 as far as my most eagerly awaited albums go.

Never heard of them but that artwork is fantastic.

Skinny Puppy are the progenitors of what we now call "industrial" music. To be sure, other people were doing it before them, but their way of doing it became the template for almost every other industrial band/artist that followed. NIN's first album was for all practical purposes a Skinny Puppy tribute album.

Since I've been getting into NIN, I'm curious about other industrial bands I don't know. Have any recommendations for a person whose never heard of them to start?

I don't know how much of Skinny Puppy's '80s-to-early-'90s output is readily available, but everything from Remission through Last Rights is essential listening. Not only will you hear where more commercially successful industrial acts like Ministry and NIN got massive doses of inspiration for their own work, but you'll begin to see how many elements of SP's sound and style filtered down through other industrial bands like KMFDM to more mainstream bands like U2 themselves.

Skinny Puppy's still around? That's pretty cool. I've never actually listened to them but I've heard of them.

The A$AP Rocky album is decent...not quite up to the high Kanye/Kendrick/Macklemore echelon of rap, but it has some fun tunes, and interesting guest features (Santigold, Florence Welch, and Skrillex??). Not gonna change any rap hater's mind though, it kinda fills all the stereotypes. In other words, A$AP reaaaally likes the N-word.

Still pretty fun though. Best album of 2013 so far, mainly because nothing else has really come yet.

I don't know if there are any other Stereophonics fans around here, but I just learned today that they have a new album coming out March 4th.  8)

check out Santigold's last album, Master of My Make Believe if/when you get the chance. it's about a year old now, and it sounds better with each passing day.

This is awesome news. I was lucky enough to see Dave Grohl at the 02/14 Letterman taping and will look forward to anything that the FF's come out with too.
