I just listened to the early mix of All Because of You...and I could've sworn he said "Next to eggs, I was so close to eggs..." at the beginning. And in One Step Closer, when I first got the album, I thought he was saying "I'm across the roach from hope" vice "...the road..." 

Bono totally fails at saying "road" in that line. Definitely says "roadge." I think it's so that it kind of "rhymes" with "bridge." The weird thing is I sang that song a lot to myself and said "roadge" for quite a while before I realized that there was something odd about it.
