The confused babel at the start of Zooropa i still hear "Manchester United, Leeds, Norwich and Chelsea" repeated about 10 times.

Haha Yes I hear it now! As a football fan, you have now probably changed my hearing of Zooropa forever......

You know what.... you could be right. I've just checked and those 4 teams were all in the 92/93 Premier League. Imagine a U2 engineer taping random stuff off the TV to loop into a song (ties in with what they were doing live at the time) and he could easily have caught football results/commentary. The voice actually sounds like John Motson.

I always thought Original Of The Species went "The end is not as far as the start."

And I thought it was "The end is not as far as the stars", but that doesn't make any sense, does it

Mofo - the "been around back..."

First I thought it was "little red men, little red men"

Then I thought "Well, that cant be it" so it must be "women and men, women and men" Are you sure this is not what actually is sung?

In North and South of the River I always sing "Can we stop playing these old tatoos?" as "Can we stop playing this ode to two?".

Always thought it was something like "oldy tunes", or "attitude".

Or "altar tunes."

I still refuse to believe it's "been around the back been around the front." I hear very clearly "little rowboat/red boat."

One of my favorites is actually in Spanish.   :)  Have you ever heard a song in a language that you don't know and swear you hear the singer singing in English?   :o  But what you hear doesn't make any sense?

In One, Bono sings, "To drag the past out (into the light)"
Apparently, many Spanish speakers hear, "Te traigo pasta..."

...which translates to "I am bringing you pasta"   ;D http://imgur.com/bfrvX

Vertigo, the Checkmated, Hours of Fun--It's some nonsense that I can't properly even type out what I hear and then it's... SHAzZAFAW (which is my text tone now. lol)
(My kids also demanded to know if Vertigo was a real place).

SHAzZAFAW = (my guess) showmen-en-en yeah

In When I Look At The World, I *always* hear "Pull it out, but it's no use" instead of "But without you, it's no use." Every time I try to remember the real lyrics, I go back to thinking it's my lyrics.

I've always thought Bono said "You wanted violence, and you got nearer" instead of "You wanted violins, and you got Nero" in Mercy.

"On a Jersey car" (whatever that means) / "I'm a traffic cop" in NLOTH.

"Just a start, til we die, you and I will break a fight" (my imagination at work) / "Justified, til we die, you and I will magnify" in Magnificent.

"Sleep comes like a drill" in In God's Country.

"And I would chase you down again" / "And I would chase you down the wind" in Wild Honey.

"Dressed up, like a cockroach" / "Dressed up, like a car crash" in Stay.

I'm pretty sure there are many, many more that I can't remember now. I'm always making up new lyrics!

Was watching ZooTV Live from Sydney last night and I just realized that I always thought it was
"Daddy won't let you eat, Daddy won't let you ache" instead of "Daddy won't let you weep......."
Huh.
