I only listened to some tracks off their breakthrough Merriweather Post Pavillion, and it didn't care for it.
MPP was what I was referring to. In 2009, it was pretty much described as "OMG BEST ALBUM EVAH" by every single music critic, except Rolling Stone, who said No Line was better, in the one time I agreed with their old-fart sensibilities.
Their new album was a bit of a dud, but MPP is still incredibly overrated. I like weird indie music as much as your average Seattle hipster, but Animal Collective is just pure pretentiousness. And not even fun pretentiousness like Gaga or Kanye. I'll prefer hipster music that I can actually sing or dance to, thank you.
