1969

Led Zeppelin debut
Beatles - Yellow Submarine
Chicago - Chicago Transit Authority
The Who - Tommy
The Beatles - Abbey Road
Led Zeppelin - Led Zep 2
Rolling Stones - Let it Bleed
I think these were some of the biggest hits of '69

1965 - "Like a Rolling Stone"/"Satisfaction".  Two of the greatest songs ever recorded - both are better than a lot of bands entire catalogue.

For albums...I'd go with either 1983 or 1991. Maybe 2004 (because that was a fabulous year for indie after all).

But in terms of singles, it's no doubt the mid-early 80s, from 82-85.
