As U2 have proven time and time again, no song is ever retired.

Who would have ever thought during the Zoo TV / Popmart era that a couple of tours later U2 would be playing "The Ocean" and "An Cat Dubh" again?

It didn't surprise me.  As U2 said themselves: you glorify the past when the future dries up.

these are the songs that U2 rely on the most and should be retired not just for the next tour but the next several:

I Will Follow, SBS, NYD, Pride, ISHFWILF, WOWY, Bullet, Desire, Angel Of Harlem, Mysterious Ways, One, Elevation, Stuck, Walk On, In A Little While, COBL, Miss Sarejevo.  I can live with anything else really.
I can understand they need to play Streets, Beautiful Day and Vertigo. Put dynamite to the rest and blow them up!!

Just one ? WOWY, has been tired on the last 4 tours.

Or at least try something new with the arrangement. Same goes for I still haven't found.

Vertigo

unbelievable, you must be kidding... When they play Vertigo it's just the high point of the show...you must be that ones that are glad when they play songs like All I want is you and Stay. They're just so boring and make me sleepy zzzzZZZ (when played live). When the subject is the live performances, I'm much more into mid-tempo and hi-speed tunes

Vertigo is great live. So is AIWIY. Stay acoustic can go though

Pride. Maybe ISHFWILF. The rest of the hits should stay I think.

Elevation

3  consecutive tours is more than enough for that one.

I personally think that Elevation just needs rearranged. I always thought it was best on the Elevation tour with the remix intro.

Influx> Single Version>Album

Sunday Bloody Sunday needs a rest.

I would like to see them totally revamp I Still Haven't Found. It's a gospel song at heart. Re-arrange it and add organ and possibly horns.

I thought Elevation was used effectively opening the Elevation show, but I never expected it would become a warhorse; it just isnt a substantial enough song.  Definitely needs to be moved to trash.

ISHFWILF, I think, should only be played occasionally and it could well be done in a gospel style with a gospel choir coming on stage and performing it with the band in selected cities.  A bit like the Stones did with YCAGWYW in their recent run of shows.

They could take a mini-orchestra on tour with them and instead of playing the usual acoustic set they could have a strings section, where they play some songs with a strings arrangement.  Have them play on Please too.

wow, Streets over MW, probably the minority on that one.

I could see the reasoning behind this choice. Streets deserves to be revered and if it has now become routine to hear it, perhaps taking it out and only playing it occasionally will give it its due weight.

And MW just has a different vibe to it that I think should be kept in the set. It's sexy time when that comes on. It gets even the stands moving!  ;)

I suppose Pride will never be retired, but I would prefer that at least for a few shows on the next tour, we swap out "Sunday Bloody Sunday" for "Please".
