Colorado has followed New York on the path towards some form of sanity with gun safety laws. Although it is the mountain west and the exact sort of region where we're told that it should be impossible to do anything on guns, Colorado is instating four measures, all of them opposed by the NRA:

1) Background Checks on Private Sales
2) Limiting gun magazines to fifteen rounds
3) Requiring gun buyers to pay for their own background checks
4) Banning concealed weapons on college campuses.

These are small measures, but they are big steps forward after so long when any gun laws at all were considered politically toxic. 

In addition, it is now looking likely that a ban on high capacity magazines will join expanded mental health screening and universal background checks at the core of a new gun safety law expected to come before the Senate with bipartisan support. If passed, it would be the first substantive national piece of gun safety legislation passed since 1994, the first major legislative defeat for the NRA since the same year, and represent the passage of what President Obama and his Administration have described as the "core" of his plan and what most liberal think tanks and research groups consider to be the measures which would have the most significant effect on gun crime.

Actually they are driving a few businesses out of Colorado but I have a feeling they'll head for Texas sadly, if they came here I'd love to apply.

You think they'll change nothing, basically every think tank or researcher who has looked into gun crime thinks that they will, although not nearly as much as doing the same things nationally would. Fair enough; but I think most people will take their chances with the experts' side of the argument.

And again with the paranoia about long-term goals... when handguns still haven't been banned in New York or Colorado or any of these other states in a few decades, and aren't even close to being banned, we all know you still won't admit you're wrong or drop the fantasy.

If strict gun laws make absolutely no difference on gun violence, why do you not see the same per capita gun violence in nations with similar cultures with strict gun laws (ie the UK, Canada)?

I don't know, why is the London homicide rate the same as San Diego?  Why is Japans homicide rate half of what the UK's is despite gun control in both?   Maybe it's the people.

So, women of Colorado, you now have to learn to pee at will to frighten off a rapist, tell him you have AIDS or just let the rape happen for your "best defense".Then again, if you hurt yourself fighting off the rapist it's your fault!

I think Salazar should be locked in a room with four rapists and he can defend himself with either a whistle, his penis----or a .38 Special.Which one would he choose, I wonder? 

Wouldn't it be great if rape was unlawful then women wouldn't feel the need to carry a gun for protection at college......oh wait
