Pick your worst song from the JT era

Where the streets have no name
I still haven't found..
With or Without You
Bullet the blue sky
Running to stand still
Red Hill mining town
In god's country
I trip through your wires
One tree hill
Exit
Mothers of the disappeared
Spanish Eyes
Silver and Gold

I chose Silver And Gold without thinking. Trip Through Your Wires is actually my least favorite. However, when I see the names of songs that aren't officially on the album, I automatically rate them lower than the album tracks because I'm less familiar with them.

I despise the production on Exit and find the song mediocre even if it had been mixed properly. However, I find it more tolerable than Trip Through Your Wires.

As an aside (digression) to the discussion on the production of Exit and others, I look at the JT and the production on songs like Exit as one of the last great examples of how music should be produced with respect to dynamics.  The music industry has forgotten that dynamics can play as much of a role in making a great piece of music as can the tune and lyrics.  Dynamics can set a mood.  It isn't that the JT has the best production in the world, but it's that they didn't feel a need to make each track as loud as possible.  The same actually goes for AB where Acrobat and Love is Blindness shine because of their softer presence.

^agreed, although I feel mixed on the production of Exit.

Is Sweetest Thing appearing on the Pop thread then? Since the single is from that era.

Spanish Eyes, even though I don't dislike the song at all.

TTYW grates with me too.

Anyone remember if the dynamics of Exit were improved with the remaster because I don't know which version I'm using now.

I love "Trip Through Your Wires" and wish Bono brought back the harmonica for some new material.

Yet, I cannot stand the concert staple "Bullet the Blue Sky".

Still sucks lol... it sounds marginally better... but it's still annoyingly quiet... loud... quiet... rinse repeat.

I get and appreciate the whole artistic intent... I just don't like it personally. Dislike and non-appreciation are not mutually inclusive concepts and shouldn't be conflated ;-)  I'm liking this forum though.

I voted Silver and Gold because of its studio proudction value. It is so much more powerful and fun live.

Trip Through Your Wires is my favorite song on The Joshua Tree. It's criminally underrated.

I voted Silver And Gold.

If you have Silver And Gold and Spanish Eyes on this list, you should also have The Sweetest Thing

exactly. there is no "worst song" on this.  not voting

he explained why ST isn't on here in the original post

It's tough, but will pick Mothers of the Disappeared.
