The Edge: “Album by end of this summer"
« on: January 25, 2013, 11:13:03 PM »
As reported by the home page, referencing http://www.thesun.ie/irishsol/homepage/showbiz/4764097/Bono-Micro-Bill-is-my-biggest-idol.html

The only album-related takeaway from the article, but a big one: "The Edge revealed U2’s new album is well on its way. He said: 'We’re looking at having it out around the end of the summer.'"

This is looking better and better.

They must have 7 reasons to exist by now.

Personally I'd like to see 12 or so. But if they release an app for Mac OS and Android, then maybe they could have an "in-app" purchase for finished versions of some of those other songs we'd like to hear finished, such as North Star or Mercy.

They better not go that digital.

I'm glad to see the band still talking about it. I'm still trying to keep my hopes from getting out of control but at least the news seems consistent and they have a relative date in mind.

Did The Edge say anything about me? It's been a while since I last saw him...

I'm not saying that you should not have the opportunity to buy physical copies. But they have been talking about doing an app for a while. For someone like myself, I live in a country and place where it is near impossible to find a physical copy, and I am very happy to have digital access. In fact, as a result, it is a long time since I have bought any physical copy of a cd or dvd, I buy everything digitally these days.... if it is available.

He said he's getting a dog! Best of luck.

I don't know, I don't think U2's technologically advanced enough to put out an app

Here's hoping their labelheads are welcoming this new U2 album as much as we fans do.

I'd also like to see 12 songs. But if they have more, why not just put out a deluxe edition like most artists do these days?

hopefully the first single should be out by late July  or early August for radio if they are going for September release.

Ok, so now it appears it's getting official. Will it be a lost laptop or ipad exposing the track list or lyrics?
Will it be a fuzzy beach clip? Will it be an e-scavenger hunt? What does everyone think will be the first sound we hear from this project to be released in Sept/Oct?

We can only dream, but I'm sure they would deem at least a few of those songs as not being worthy of existence.

WHOA! What country do you live in? I'm surprised this has happened anywhere in the 1st world, but I guess it is the future.
