Part of me would love to see this happen, but part of me also wouldn't want it to happen since their first SB show was so amazing. Anyways, I don't think it will happen. Honestly, I think they should go with Bon Jovi for next year.

Btw, Madonna was in Indianapolis and Springsteen in Tampa.

Ravens played Streets as their entrance song into the Superbowl. They also played it at their home stadium the day of the parade and celebration there. As we exited the stadium that day, they played I Will Follow.

Elevation
Streets
Blinding Lights
Desire
Gloria

NYC is perfectly fitting for U2. They have many connections to it.

Just curious:  are professional teams allowed to use a band's music without their permission?

It would actually probably work great; I'm pretty sure "Bad" and "Ants Marching" have the same kind of harmonic structure in the verse, basically just switching back and forth between two chords.

Not sure. They likely had permission for the Super Bowl. I hear music being played at games all the time, so there must be some permission or some lawyer would have sued by now!

It's not a matter of permission.

Radio stations don't need permission.

TV doesn't need permission.

They just need to pay Royalties.

They have general licenses with songwriters associations and publishing companies and stuff. It's not a getting permission on an artist-by-artist basis kind of thing.

Although, using a particular song for a commercial is different, so I don't know if they would need permission to make a song a regular part of an intro sequence at a sporting event or something.

I never heard Bono do a Yellow snippet before...  I see now that he did it at Glastonbury:

U2 should end every show with at least a snippet of 40.  When I saw them in Pittsburgh
at the end of the 360 tour, they finished the show with Bad and a snippet of 40...  :)
