Songs that sound like U2
« on: July 11, 2013, 07:11:16 PM »
I'm almost positive I've seen this thread before but I couldn't find it, so here goes:

1. If You Can See Me - David Bowie (opening wails are so Bono)
2. I'd Rather Be High - David Bowie (guitar is so Edge)
3. Superhero (Entourage theme song) - Jane's Addiction (opening "yeah yeah"s)
4. Save Me (Smallville theme song) - Remy Zero

"Playing With Fire" by Brandon Flowers
"This Is Your Life" by The Killers (particularly the guitar)
"You Get What You Give" by New Radicals (when I was a teenager I thought this was U2)
"Nothing" by The Script (not the vocal but definitely the guitar)

The guitar during the bridge of Smile Like You Mean it by The Killers always reminds me of Achtung Baby era Edge.

Crawling Back to You – Daughtry  The opening of this sounds just like TUF  - You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Daylight – Coldplay – Edge influenced guitar and a Bono type vocal by Chris. One of my Top 5 Coldplay songs.

Talk – Coldplay – Top 5 CP Song  Edge-like guitar again

Our Lives – The Calling

Wherever You Will Go – The Calling  This guy went where? After the band broke up, he did a few lead vocal sets for Santana and haven’t heard about him since.  A shame, I like his lead vocals.

Busted Heart – For King & Country You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Proof of Your Love – For King & Country You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Merry Go Round – The Replacements The lead vocals remind me of Bono a bit. Moreso a mash up of early/mid Beatles and U2, but the lead singer looks like a young Jagger!  ;)

Sometime Around Midnight - The Airborne Toxic Event You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login (Edge-like guitar)

Numb - The Airborne Toxic Event You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

The Shadow of the Day - Linkin Park  There’s a mash up of this and WOWY on Youtube that highlights the similar vibes

Headlights - Morning Parade

Spitting Games - Snow Patrol (mash up of circa late Beatles and U2)

30 Seconds to Mars often reminds me of U2.

Muse’s Madness is for them what WOWY was to U2. And, Matt Bellamy's vocals sometimes sound like Bono's. We’ll see if time tells.

I need to make a list. I’m always hearing songs and pointing out U2 inspired riffs and such.

^True. Add Simple Song to the list.

It's funny how all the bands or songs I like have something about them that reminds me of U2.  ;)

So Alive by Ryan Adams sounds a lot like U2, especially their early albums. Bling (Confession of a King) by The Killers always reminds me of them, especially near the end of the song.

State Of Grace - Taylor Swift

Edge guitar without question, and even drum beat you could recognise as Larry.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed that. Do you know who's singing the opening wails? I'd be more than impressed if it was Bowie.

Um... I'm bad at hearing similarities between songs, but the vocals in Up On The Catwalk by Simple Minds sound a lot like early 80's Bono.
