I'm almost positive I've seen this thread before but I couldn't find it, so here goes:

1. If You Can See Me - David Bowie (opening wails are so Bono)
2. I'd Rather Be High - David Bowie (guitar is so Edge)
3. Superhero (Entourage theme song) - Jane's Addiction (opening "yeah yeah"s)
4. Save Me (Smallville theme song) - Remy Zero
I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed that. Do you know who's singing the opening wails? I'd be more than impressed if it was Bowie.

Um... I'm bad at hearing similarities between songs, but the vocals in Up On The Catwalk by Simple Minds sound a lot like early 80's Bono.

According to the liner notes, the only two vocalists on "If You Can See Me" are Bowie and his bass player Gail Ann Dorsey.

The liner notes are so hard to read. Thanks!

"Your Heart is an Empty Room" by Death Cab for Cutie has some Edge-esque guitar sprinkled throughout it.

"The Shadow Proves the Sunshine" by Switchfoot builds a lot like a U2 song and it's one of my favorites of theirs.:)

Wake Up And Smell The Coffee - The Cranberries - (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)
The intro is very reminiscent of Zooropa and the riff, when it starts, sounds like it could be from any one of U2's early 80's albums. The vocals in the chorus are quite shouty too which sounds a bit like Bono's from War (even though it is a female singing)  ;D

I like that song but IMO there's nothing to do with U2 ! the intro might distantly sound something from AB, but the vocals definetly not  ;D

"Open Your Eyes" by Snow Patrol, "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon, and "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, all have chord progressions and pacing that are similar to "Streets".

They most certainly are.  She's a helluva singer in her own right.  He performed Under Pressure live in the 90's and 00's with her singing Freddie Mercury's part.  She's outstanding.

As for U2-sounding songs, look no further than "Is It Any Wonder?" by Keane.  It sounds like a lost Achtung Baby track.

God I hadn't noticed how much that wailing sounded like Bono on If You Can See Me.
And yes it's most likely Bowie's bassist, Gail Ann Dorsey singing that part.

I always thought Clocks was as much U2 as another band could get.

Civil Twilight sounds a lot like early U2.

"Is it any Wonder?" by Keane
"Sweet Disposition" by The Temper Trap
"Turn on Me" The Shins
Lots of Muse.  Love Muse.
"Midnight Show" The Killers
"Miracle Mile" Cold War Kids

Sorry, I'm not getting the Bowie connection.  Since, Bowie was a well established artist before U2 hit the scene.

Well it works in reverse too... I posted a link to Warszawa off Bowie's Low, which is one of Bono's seminal album experiences, and there's a wailing vocal part somewhere in that track (can't give you an exact timecode) that is basically identical to young Bono's stylings. If you listen you'll hear it most likely.

The sound at the very start of 1984 on Diamond Dogs sounds remarkably similar to the sound at the very start of Elevation.

Well, 1984 starts with disco strings, and Elevation sound like some synthesizer concoction (or manipulated sample).

I checked Warszawa, and the "Bono" bit starts at 04:29,  here's a timed link.
