The Joshua Tree this morning. Just finished listening to Brian Wilson Presents Smile because my music theory teacher said it was a really, really weird album. Good music, but I've heard weirder. Now I'll listen to either The Final Cut by Pink Floyd or The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway by Genesis... I haven't decided.

Smile is an incredible, incredible album (surfs up is one of my favorite songs ever) but yeah it's not that bizarre. I love the beach boys,  but their psychedelic factor seems more reputation than fact, though it's hard to imagine them being from any other decade than the sixties.

i have Smiley Smile and the Smile box set, they're okay but nothing that odd. Is Brian Wilson presents worth it?

We had Beach Boys Appreciation Week in music theory and I'd really never given the band much thought but upon listening to a lot of their stuff, I found they were a great band with great musicians. One of my classmates agreed with my teacher about the weirdness of Smile and said she couldn't get through it. But that was coming from someone who only listens to light pop, so what did I expect ::)

Made my decision and listened to The Final Cut...

I didn't know who the question was directed to. I think it's basically the same songs with a different band, so probably not worth it. Some of the songs might be more finished, I guess?

It was to either of you. Ya I can't imagine it would be that much better or different.
