Just listened to SoE in full - not a bad album, but to me not boundary breaking.

Not that they have to break boundaries to the public, but as a long-term U2 fan then I can hold that opinion with the added knowledge and experience of their greatest work.

The album has some stand-out tracks, but too many 'safety nets'.

The Cars - The Cars. It's a very impressive debut album.

This rad Algerian bandís new album dropped about a week or two ago, and itís oretty fantastic, better than their first, imo, which is saying quite a bit, as it was pretty badass itself.

Music @ Work - The Tragically Hip

I don't know what made me dig it out after all these years, but I'm glad I did. I bought it the day it came out, and only listened to it twice - I thought it was complete and utter garbage after the incredible opening track.

Coming back to it so many years later...first of all, how did I forget "Lake Fever"? Such a beautiful song, even though it doesn't make up for all the trash in the rest of the album's first half. A few songs later, "The Completists" fires up, and the album's good-to-great for the rest of its running time. I hated this album's two follow-ups even more - maybe it's time to give them a 2nd chance as well.

That and Sparkle In The Rain - just finished listening to it and it's on a level with NGD I think  :)
