Is "Invisible" what you expected?
« on: February 02, 2014, 11:50:12 AM »
After listening a few times on the iPod and on the radio, it is what I expected. It's a great song, but not one of their iconic songs. However, it sounded great on the radio and if radio plays it out, it may become one of their memorable ones.

I didn't expect lead single quality for  a free download. It's  a step below, but I'm not complaining. If, they think they have better songs on the album than this, we should be in good shape as U2 fans this year.

By the way, video preview on Facebook looks amazing!

It's better than I expected, but worse than I hoped, I think.

It sounds a good bit less like traditional U2 than I expected, which is good.

Yeah , Alice in Chains released "Hollow" as a preview song and not as a single. This was due to Cantrell's shoulder surgery delaying the finish of the album. The song however, took off and did much better than expected. Now it's in regular rock radio rotation.
I see the same thing happening here.

To be honest, 20+ years ago I felt the same way when I heard Achtung Baby.

I didn't expect it to sound anything like this.

But I'm really enjoying the new sound so far. So I guess its better than whatever expectation I'm giving it.

I need to remember this.

And, do you mean the making of 3:00 documentary of Invisible on Facebook? THAT does rock for me.

Yes, the doc. is pretty good. Heard it a second time on radio(Philly 104.5) and it sounds great. They've played it twice now!

The sound of it surprised me; the basic contours of the song (well, not the opening part, obvs) were already evident in that hangar clip, bad audio quality and all.

It's true it can make a difference. I found the download very different to the YouTube posting I heard. I really want to love it but...

I didn't really have many expectations other than for it to be amazing. It lived up to it, at least to my ears.
