Why a blog?
« on: May 12, 2014, 06:06:23 PM »
Love this site. Absolutely wonderful stuff.

I cant understand why there's a separate blog though.. why not consolidate the blog with the Bits and Bytes feed? I never think to check the blog for content..

cheers!

Because almost all of the stuff on the blog isn't news.

Well, I can't argue with that logic, that's for certain!

I'll admit though - I find the fact that it's linked as standalone blog confusing - it seems to dilute the atu2 brand, no?

If you still wanted to keep the blog, what about linking both news and blog content under Bits and Bytes? than you'd have a regular feed of U2 related news and content in one spot, the first spot most look when visiting the site, I'd imagine.

I love reading about stuff like that fascinating quote from Adam Clayton most recently featured. And, you're right, it isn't news, but as a fan it interests me just as much. it's why I visit sites like atu2. But I normally miss the blog posts because I read on mobile and it means scrolling down.. #firstworldproblems, sure.. but admittedly, this is how most of us digest content these days, at-a-glance, right?

Thank you for your work though. Again, it's a fantastic site. Been a visitor since the earliest days...

Every clicks a dollar!  :)

Joking aside, there is benefit in blogging from an SEO point of view (as I am sure you are aware) and having the links and backlinks separate from other content, so Google index more pages of relevant, fresh content.

Not to get too deep into an SEO discussion, but we're splitting up our authority and trust by having a separate domain. Better and easier to have one powerful domain/site. (Which we already have with the main site, and don't really care about the blog in that sense.)
