How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb: 10th Anniversary Remaster?
« on: February 18, 2015, 09:21:41 PM »
Nearly 10 years ago, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb was released with one of the bands biggest hits ever in Vertigo (which might have gone to top 10 on the billboard charts if downloads were counted at the time).

As much as I enjoy some of the songs on the album, it suffers from being the worst sounding in U2's catalog due to abhorrent sound mixing and production, becoming another casualty of the loudness wars. Songs like Crumbs from Your Table were just ruined by this, with every single "S" being loud and earsplitting.

So then, how about they release a remaster? Perhaps they could dig out the version album they ended up printing on vinyl (I have a rip of this, sounds infinitely better).

Any thoughts?

They need to remaster Zooropa before they give any other album that treatment. Listen to Dirty Day to see what I'm talking about. A great track on my #3 favorite album, but it sounds scratchy.

I would be in favor of a 10th anniversary burning of the master tapes and deletion from my memory banks. U2's worst album by a country mile.

I've always noticed that thing with every "s" in the album.  It annoys the crap out of me.  I'd love a remaster, but doubt it will happen for a very long time.

Can we just leave this wretched album where it belongs please - in the past.

Here we go! Bring on the hate! I'd be favorable if they give it a solid remaster that prevent it from clipping and cleans out everything a bit.

Why is every negative opinion around here referred to as "hate" ?

Maybe it's just mostly a younger audience who don't have a better vocabulary ?

I know, just haterz gonna hate......

I'm not criticizing your opinion, but saying "U2's worst album by a mile" seems like hate (for the album) to me, which is valid. What else can we call it?

Cool down. There's no need to get mad about it and discriminate young people. I was just being sarcastic, it's called irony.

some people have no sense of relativism. Justin bei ber I hate. U2's worst album isn't in the same leagues. and it's ironic that some of the people complaining about discrimination freely use "dad rock" as a not so glowing term.

I do not think I'm a fanatic. I listen to a wide range of music. But I know one thing: U2 have no weak album.

Perhaps, but some albums are better than others.   (where have I heard that before?)

No.

But I wish they'd Remaster Zooropa and Pop.

Bomb could do with a complete overhaul.
