  • Time is irrelevant, it's not linear.

Let me try this again today...  Passengers is awesome, but I think it's frontloaded, and I have a hard time making it through most of the last half.  I've never been able to rate it against U2 albums, so I'm putting it at the end.

1.  Achtung Baby
2.  The Joshua Tree
3.  The Unforgettable Fire
4.  Zooropa
5.  No Line on the Horizon
6.  Songs of Innocence
7.  Boy
8.  All That You Can't Leave Behind
9.  War
10.  Pop
11.  Rattle and Hum
12.  How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
13.  October
14.  Original Soundtracks I

Pretty controversial list for sure, especially on this forum. While I LOVE experimental U2, with Pop and Zooropa being 10 out of ten albums, I don't like them QUITE as much as grand, frantic, chiming, sweeping, melodic U2. This was hard to do, because I love every single song on every single album, except the back half of passengers. It's amazing that I love this band so much that their bottom two albums are still so good.

I have done it! I have finally found someone who likes 2000's U2 even more then I do. With most of my U2 fan friends, I am the one who likes it the most. Finally someone who likes it even more then I do.

Dang, completely forgot it! To be honest I don't really think of R&H as a stand alone album the way the rest of them are, but it would probably be around War and October.

I can't believe the TJT is 7th. Behind NLOTH.

It was the album that took U2 to hugeness and was instantly hailed as the album of the decade upon release.

It was voted number 2 in a Channel 4 top 100 albums of all time and usually features highly on greatest albums ever polls.

Taste in art is subjective. I rank The Joshua Tree almost last.

I'm pretty sure it exists but I haven't been able to find it, but I'm curious to see Spin Magazine's ranking of U2 material in their categories of 'must-haves' down to 'for die-hard fans only'.
