Top Ten Artists
« on: December 10, 2015, 10:22:06 AM »
So my top ten albums list got a lot of replys and I realized, we do lists and ranks of U2 records, but we don't have to many recent lists on our overall views. All of us have diverse tastes beyond our one common artist, so without further ado, I kickoff my ten favorite artists.

1. U2 or The Beatles (dead even. If there was a gun to my head and I was told to pick or shoot, I would get shot)
2. Bruce Springsteen
3. Pink Floyd
4. David Bowie
5. Led Zeppelin
6. The Who
7. The Electirc Light Orchestra
8. Iron Maiden
9. Genesis
10. Rush

2. U2

It seems I have a think for U.K. artists, what can I say?

I'm in my early 50s, my top ten has changed many times over the years.

The only real constants for most of my life has been

Led zeppelin
Rush
U2

And even then, a lot of 90s  Rush was (relatively) as bad as 00s stuff from U2, but stuck with them due the power of their live shows and earlier work.

Both bands putting out great late career material is an unexpected surprise.

Van Halen and Iron Maiden might be a close 4 and 5 but again I didn't care for big chunks of output, the Hagar and Blaze years respectively.

1. U2 - Greatest band ever. Such a diverse catalog w/ no truly bad album.
2. Future Islands - Probably my favorite band making music currently. Looking forward to what's next.
3. Bon Iver - Everything they/Justin puts out is great.
4. Talking Heads - Stacked discography.
5. The Smiths - I like quite a bit of Smiths songs, but I don't find any album particularly great outside of "The Queen is Dead".
6. The Clash - "The Magnificent Seven" is a top 10 song for me. London Calling is a seminal album as well.
7. Coldplay - I think they're way past their prime, but I consider VLV one of the best albums of the 2000s
8. Sufjan Stevens - Recent discovery, but I've enjoyed what I've heard.
9. The Smashing Pumpkins - Their work has tailed off significantly, but you can't deny that 90s output.
10. David Bowie - Haven't even listened to the entire discography (maybe never will), but I've loved most of what I've heard

HM: WU LYF - They only released one album before splitting, but I hold them in high regard.
