Where was that from? sounds ambivalent, kind of cool.

Not the OP, but it's from No Line On The Horizon (the song).

Yes, it's definitely from No Line...I like this lyric a lot, but am really uncertain about the meaning.
hmmm, starting from infinity...meaning to start and never end?

I always thought it was a rebuke of those who live in the very practical world.

Infinity is forever ever after, starting right now.  Now is a great time to start something, if it's going to last forever.  That's what I always took away from it, anyway.  Love the song.

Cool. I never picked up on that lyric before, but that's my favorite track from that album.

This is pretty vague but to me it allways sounds like there are no limits to great ideas.

Infinity is a great place to start.
I take it in context of the song and album:

No line on the horizon
Rebirth and Renaissance
Don't ever want to give up or stop
Limitless possibilities

U2's looking at science in their music but not going deep enough? Seriously, if they ever really got into nerdish levels of science I bet the album it produced would be fascinating. But all they ever do is skim the surface...

Not something I've ever considered, but you may be on to something here!

In mathematics, the graph of a function (which is basically a curve) can come into the measureable, countable space from infinity on one end of the curve, and it can also leave that space in which we can get a sharp view of it towards infinity on the other end of the curve. Hence, infinity is a great place to start.

I always thought it's a reference to faith/God.

no line on the horizon
this line isn't about limitless possibilities at all. you can't see the horizon when it's foggy or when you're in the midst of a storm. that's when there's no line on the horizon.

she said infinity is a great place to start / time is irrelevant, it's not linear
when bono can't find the truth, all he can turn to for any sort of anchor is 'eternity', 'heaven', 'god'. and if god is eternal, god is not linear. not something that is easily grasped.

i'm not going to bother going line by line through the whole song, but you get the gist of where i think the song is going. i could be wrong, but bono really does write about god most of the time.
