Joshua Tree Tour 2017 setlist prediction/wishlist

I posted this thought on other forums, but I would wager that "Please" is actually "Pride" in that photo from Adam.

I can see where the confusion would be, but Pride makes more sense in terms of "we're playing TJT & the hits," and fits the chronological flow of what people are speculating is the first half of the set.

I'd like to see a song slipped in to commemorate the POP album (20th anniversary) this tour. How would that work you ask? Well, how about PLEASE as the lead-in to WTSHNN? It worked to perfection back on the POPMART tour. Not to mention, the casual JT fans have probably never heard it -- so it would be great for them too.

As someone who loves the Pop album....this would make me VERY happy.

After listening to the podcast on Adam's leaked working setlist I kinda like the notion of starting with strictly pre-JT songs, followed with JT and then the chopping down of the JT from AB so I'm changing up my setlist.

My guess is they will not only break up the album, but also change the sequence.  I predict that they open with some JT songs, play a mix of other older and newer songs, more JT songs, other songs, then an encore with the rest of the JT songs.  Something like this...

I think a few songs from Rattle and Hum would fit in great on this tour, Heartland, Hawkmoon 269 and even Love Rescue Me would all totally work in the set. I also agree that Please would be perfect for this tour! I would also love to hear some rare snipets! Ultimately whatever they decide to put in the set list outside of TJT songs I would love hear!

Is it 1989 again? U2 have made 8 albums since then, including Passengers. We should welcome those songs in this setlist.

I think the most obvious thought would be that they will be playing up to the album with a three set show. First set all about energy with the likes of Vertigo, Out Of Control leading up to streets - The second set is the album in it's entirety and then a AB themed encore

I hope that they play some cuts from that era that never see the light of day anymore, like 11 O'Clock Tic Toc, Silver & Gold, and, though it was recently dusted off for the 360° Tour, the Unforgettable Fire. I would also love to hear A Sort Of Homecoming, but only if they could give it justice.

It's also be cool if they played some of the covers they regularly featured on the original tour, especially the Curtis Mayfield classic, People Get Ready. Unless if Bono gets the lyrics right, I could do without Helter Skelter; and, they should only perform All Along The Watchtower if it gets a blistering guitar solo, unlike the boring version featured on the Rattle & Hum disc.

There will be some deep cuts and probably an unexpected song or two - every tour since PopMart they've done something unexpected : it's not beyond reason they'll do She's A Mystery To Me, or Slow Dancing, or Silver & Gold, again.
