  • here comes the car chase!
I was thinking, this tour throws up an opportunity for u2 to play some rarely mined stuff. Everyone knows they are getting to hear the whole Joshua tree, so it's carte blanche for the rest of the set. It's a real opportunity to fool around, perhaps play some rarities, and maybe even new stuff, as the band aren't tied down to any sort of specific approach other than fulfilling their obligation to playing the full Joshua album.

any thoughts as to what you think they have in store, and any advice you would give the band in choosing the set-list?

I hope they play JT in a sporadic way and mix the set up with a few of the classics along with some new material.

My only other hopes to hear live are

PRIDE
UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD
BEAUTIFUL DAY

and at a push: GONE

I'd love to hear Sweetest Thing and The Wanderer. Those could possibly fit somewhere on the set.

It would be a great artistic decision to only play other 1980s U2 tunes, but the question is could they resist playing Vertigo, Beautiful Day, One, Elevation et al?

I think not.

My dream setlist would be for them to open with one song per album, sans Joshua Tree, followed by using MLK to segue into Streets.

Something like:
Out Of Control
Gloria
New Year's Day
A Sort Of Homecoming
Desire
Mysterious Ways
Numb
Mofo
Elevation
Vertigo
Cedars of Lebanon
Raised by Wolves
MLK

And, then the Joshua Tree album in full, sequential order, then followed by an encore.

Or they could substitute 11 O'Clock Tick Tock instead of Out Of Control, as they'd likely then play I Will Follow in the encore.

Anything close to this would be musically orgasmic for me.

The natural addition would be R&H tracks.

I also think they should drop Pride for another song from TUF like ASOH, TUF or Wire. Or Bad much more likely.

Since we're getting all of TJT, I don't care about much from R&H. Aside from TJT, hope for mostly 90s/00s and maybe a few early 80s.

I'd love to see nothing but 80's material.

I really do agree...it's an anniversary tour, so obviously TJT stuff, in order. But, first an all 80's set...ohmygosh...how great would that be?

all the joshua tree b -sides and rattle and hum b sides should be being considered by the band to be played..this is 100% a contractual tour demanded by their live nation contract but the band should make a serious effort to get some rare unheard stuff out there instead of a joshua tree/greatest hits show

Completely agree.  I loved JT when it came out but only played Side A. . . it was a revolution when I flipped the tape over.  I feel that Side B is a work of art.

And I would love to see some lesser known R n H  besides Desire, Angel of Harlem. . . Heartland, Love Rescue Me, God Part II. . . bring it.
