do people really want to hear them test drive SOE songs?  I saw some comments on that in another thread...

I for one do not... likely to be under-rehearsed, crowd will not know the songs and will not have had the time to digest them so reception would be muted, then the band loses confidence in them and lo and behold we're into another 5 year album cycle...

could be wrong of course!

Yes, very true.

The optimist (actually, the fantasist) in me hopes that they might do something different this time. All of the fans know that tjt will be played in full. That's all we know. That's what fans are paying their hard earned cash for. They can't say u2 mugged them if they throw in a few curve balls whilst adhering to their brief of playing the whole jt album.

I just think they can do something different this time. Tear up the script. Yes, it has been partly teared up already by the full album concept. But it's so easy to play the album and then play the same old hits and warhorses in accompaniment. Throw the 'fans' who've stuck with you all these years a bone, and do something adventurous with the rest of the set. Something to blow our minds. I don't think I could watch u2 going through the motions on pride, one, Cobl, vertigo etc again.

Love comes tumbling, acrobat (I know, it's getting boring, but...), God part2, wire, asoh, mofo, gone, heartland, so cruel etc etc. There's a gold mine there waiting to be salvaged. But somehow I know it's all a fantasy. 'Ah no, 'pride' again....'

I'd love some Pop love being the 20th anniversary of the album.  So bring on:
Mofo
Do You Feel Loved?
Gone
Last Night on Earth

I'd also be happy if they took songs from the top 25 requested during the social media request #U2Request before the last tour.

Thematically, U2 should play The Refugee from WAR, The Hands That Built America (full song), Indian Summer Sky, & New York (ATYCLB). It feels like these songs can take on a new relevance given the state of current events.

It seems reasonable to think that this tour is going to attract more casual U2 fans than a normal (new album) U2 tour, so I'd fully expect them to play a lot of hits and well-known songs. Edge pretty much suggested to Rolling Stone that the only rarities might be the 4-5 songs on TJT that haven't been played often (or at all).
