Is it "auld" fella? Slang for old, a term of endearment for a father, hubby or partner?

As a kid at age 11, I just loved David Hasselhoff's "Looking For Freedom". Today, I know it was the Philly-Soul influence and the 80s era vintage keyboards. The rest of his album was crap, though, so I bought the single, not the album.

Growing up in the Eurodance/Techno era of the 90s in Germany, I despised most of that stuff at the time, preferring "real instruments". Still, some guilty pleasures remain, such as:
-Prince Ital Joe feat. Marky Mark - United
-Doop - Doop
