A show for the red & the blue or a show to take a role in protest?

A message of community.
A message of protest.
Both.  Not mutually exclusive.

I'm not trying to get into a political discourse and get banned.  I think this is probably a legit discussion the band might be having.  I've seen quotes on both sides.

Personally, I think they really would like to spread a message of love and community, but I don't think they can help themselves when it comes to involving a political position.

I'm not really asking what you prefer (I'm guessing most would prefer not to have an overly political show), but what you think the band will really do come May.

Bono is a master at bringing people together he will not overtly alienate anyone in the audience.  His point will still be made even if it goes over some people's head

I voted both. It's in their DNA. They hit you over the head with the message then give you a big hug before they leave. :-)

Oh, oops...I just re-read the o.p.
I voted for what I wanted, not what I thought they would do. So, if I could, I'd change my vote to "both".

I'm cool with whatever they want to do. They've always been a political band and if that bothered me, I wouldn't be a fan of their music and message. I would think it'd be the same for their other fans.

That said, at this point it seems like Bono has backed down a bit--or at least that's what his most recent interview suggests where he talks about uniting people with the music. So I'm not expecting much of a political message/rant on the tour. But I wouldn't be bothered if there was one.

I also voted both. No question. They won't and shouldn't leave out politics, but will bring it to a positive statement at the end - whichever way they will do the shows.
And I look forward to the concerts. ;D

Another vote for both here.  I'm sure the protest message with be positive and inclusive - they will try and make connections with their audience; that's always been the approach they've taken.

Both, which is most likely what they will do. It wouldn't be very constructive to just be completely angry towards a portion of the crowd.

Protest

If they really cared about community they would ditch the politics and focus solely on the music. I'm not sure how one can bash a country or candidate and then claim they just want to bring people together. I can't speak for everyone but I'm burned out on politics and this election. The last thing I want to hear is more of it.

Both, especially if they intend to use the recent versions of Desire and Bullet the blue sky.

Both, B man is strong in his message of love and community. And i think they won't pass up a chance to say what they wanna say about
political stuff.

People can do things that are seen as disappointing, but that won't necessarily change the overall feelings towards those people. People can also learn from their mistakes.

I chose a message of community... but how about neither?
