Generally, though, opening bands are rarely allowed to leave the mainstage no matter who the headliner is.
That's right, I'd forgotten about DHoH. They WERE all over the stage. I half wonder if restrictions hadn't been put in place at that time.
It's funny, looking back on those days--the opening acts were given almost comically little in terms of the stage/lights/sound. Not that I blame anyone, or should be surprised--but Zoo TV was my first concert, period. So the opening act comes out and looks almost pathetic.....and then the lights dim, the full stage lights up, and U2 proceed to blow the roof off.
