Will openers play some of their set on the JT/B-stage?
« on: February 06, 2017, 06:37:51 PM »
or just their whole set on the end/main stage?
We'll know after night one but I'm asking as I'll be in GA line for Vancouver and want to aim for the right stage (main or B) once inside to try and get close to rail for Mumford. interested in opinions. thanks!

Typically support acts haven't used anything beyond the main stage.

Main stage. I wouldn't be surprised if opening acts are restricted from the b-stage.

The only time I've ever seen an opening act utilize the entire stage at a U2 show was Florence + The Machine on 360. She ran a lap around the entire stage and said something about it being their last show, so I got the impression it was something she had been wanting to do.

^ Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy wee all over the B-stage when I saw them do their last night opening for U2 on Outside Broadcast.

Generally, though, opening bands are rarely allowed to leave the mainstage no matter who the headliner is.

That's right, I'd forgotten about DHoH.  They WERE all over the stage.  I half wonder if restrictions hadn't been put in place at that time.

It's funny, looking back on those days--the opening acts were given almost comically little in terms of the stage/lights/sound.  Not that I blame anyone, or should be surprised--but Zoo TV was my first concert, period.  So the opening act comes out and looks almost pathetic.....and then the lights dim, the full stage lights up, and U2 proceed to blow the roof off.
