Yes, they are capable of anything they just need belief which I think is lacking.

I'd say no and I would also say that hopefully I am right in saying no - why?...well I reckon for u2 to have a 'radio hit' would mean some kind of really vapid pop rock song that was about as deep as a puddle and had the likes of Ryan Tedders finger prints at his most generic all over it would be required and that isn't what I want to hear....or worse still they go for some kind of collaboration with a singer who is 'in'...

If they could of course have a radio hit with something left field and unusual then great - but the game really does not work like that anymore does it?..

It really does not matter if they have one or not anyway does it...lets say for arguments sake they had one with a vapid cheesy pop rock song where they collaborated with say Adele or Rihanna singing with them...or they made a song like for arguments sake say Acrobat that wasn't played on radio anywhere.....I know what i'd rather listen to.

u2 don't need a radio hit, they don't need any more money and them having a radio hit isn't some kind of 'win' where if they have one it means they have necessarily made great music again.

I don't know....much as I'd like to see U2 suceed singles-wise with something like The Troubles or This is where you can reach me now, not sure they can do it this late in the game.

Maybe if they got a quality remix ?

Very much doubt it. But with a feat. they would be a chance.

Eg Chainsmokers feat. Bono
Drake feat. The Edge
Culture Club feat. Larry Mullen Jr.

And so on...

If people didn't drive, radios would no longer exist.

Correct...I always take a cd with me when I drive, unless it's a VERY short drive. And then I turn on the radio, I'm sorry I didn't bring a cd.

I listen to Radio 1 in the UK at work & believe me it's 99% rubbish, when U2 finally release something new Radio 2 will play it so maybe they could have a hit again...

Virgin radio in the UK, which I listen to while driving often played their SOI singles, though they didn't make any impression in the UK charts.

Radio 1 has been heading downhill for years, I don't think I could name a Dj on there any more, all the personalities seem to have disappeared. Radio 2 is OK, a bit MOR but is inoffensive.
I'd seriously recommend BBC 6 music, a great mix of old and new artists who are happy to work outside the conventional radio hit box. It's easily the best radio station in the UK, especially now that the Baur group have a grip on what seems like the entire commercial radio sector.

I would also like to add that the "I Heard a U2 Song On The Radio Today" topic is on its millionth page suggests that radio listening is very much alive and kicking.
