i took this thread to mean songs that still remain relevant in 2035. i'd think that would have to mean being exposed to the songs via the radio, or i guess commercials etc

Same. It's why I didn't include some of U2's brilliant songs since '00. They weren't commercially hits, therefore they probably won't be relevant in 2035.

Same thing with Bowie and Radiohead. Great music, but none of their post-00s stuff will be culturally relevant in 2035. Their "classics" will be, though.

I really dont think many, if any "pop" songs released this millenium will be rated as classics in 35 yrs from now
I agree. Most pop songs nowadays do not age well... will anybody remember the "Nae-Nae" 30+ years from now?

Depends on how much radio you listen to. I haven't listened to much Kanye, but I know Gold Digger, Stronger, Heartless, Famous, Bound 2, and FourFiveSeconds (his track with Rihanna and McCartney). That's all from hearing those songs either on the radio, MTV, or the Internet (Bound 2 and Famous were all over the Internet at the time those came out).

Also, I don't think he's had as much luck with the radio over the past few years. He definitely was all over the radio from 2005-2010. Not so much in recent years. Same thing could really be said for Jay Z. He was VERY big between '99-'04, has had a few hits since then (Empire State Of Mind) but for the most part he hasn't had any huge hits in years. Yet he's still huge.
