Poll

Their Batman and Robin sort of speak ; will they reunite with them ?

yes but only for the final U2 album
5 (19.2%)
I would prefer new producers
4 (15.4%)
not for the foreseeable future ; U2 is content with other producers
12 (46.2%)
after SOI and SOE U2 will only use Eno and Lanois as producers
4 (15.4%)
I doubt Eno and Lanois can still pull out a great album out of U2, so I don't care either way

Will U2 work with Eno and Lanois again ?
« on: March 18, 2017, 05:57:21 AM »
U2 seem content to work with Tedder (SOI and it seems SOE) and various non E/L producers since NLOTH (Danger Mouse et al on SOI).

But do you think they will have more Eno and Lanois produced albums in the future ?

I went with the "after SOI and SOE" option. I think that more work with Eno and Lanois would be the perfect way to ease U2 into retirement...but not too soon, please!

Hopefully they will work with them if they record Songs of Ascent nice ambient/atmospheric  sounding album.

I can't see it happening anytime soon. After NLOTH it seems clear that the band no longer follows their advice anyway, so having them produce wouldn't matter.

I feel completely unable to make any prediction here. It just seems to me that since NLOTH they sort of stayed away from them and worked with a lot of other producers. ???

Probably not for the foreseeable future, but that door might not necessarily be fully shut either.

Lanois seems to be very busy with his own stuff right now. Would Eno produce them without Lanois there to help shoulder the load?

Well there is a Eno *and a Lanois remix in the new JT edition so they are still in contact...

No, I don't think so.

The band can barely get through the recording process anymore, which shows lack of interest or nothing creative left in the tank. They'll release albums after SOE but not new music. This is it.

Suddenly, I'm reminded of a quote from Brian Eno on why it takes U2 a long time to record an album.....

I think there will be one more after. Whether it's Ascent or not idk.  Then another huge stadium tour. Then possibly a Zoo Tv 30th anniversary tour. Then greatest hits. By the time the album after SOE is released, they will be in their mid 60s...
