TJT Tour 2017 opening song (at least during the U.S. leg)
« on: March 18, 2017, 11:59:37 PM »
I think it'll be Out of Control. Starting with the earliest songs in their catalogue. It's a great show opener, Larry with an extra long drum intro and the crowd gets whipped into a frenzy.

Agree with Out Of Control. It's a great live song and it's opened concerts before. I've always thought it's versatile enough to work well in different spots in the setlist, but it'd be good to hear as an opener this time out if they choose to do so.

I've been thinking this since they said it might not be Streets.  If not Streets then OOC for sure.  Nice throwback to War tour too.

I would love EOCTT or Hawkmoon opener, though I see Hawkmoon as a better fit to open the encore than the show.

Man I hope they go a little deeper into some of the albums than the stand by tunes they have been playing on the rest of the tours.. Do we really need to hear I Will Follow any more, at least on this short tour?  Out of Control, I love the song but come on dig a little guys.

Streets

Problem with this is that for the first hour of the show it will be during daylight. So no red screen, no effective lighting. Just a stadium full of lethargic Americans.

If it was arenas then maybe it could work.

What would make y'all think it is going to be Hawkmoon? This is a Joshua Tree Tour, not Love Town, and that song hasn't been played in 27 years. It isn't about America, it isn't political, and if it was written at the time of TJT (and it may have been for all I know) they didn't feel it fit on that album, so why would it be in a show that is already going to be made up of obscure album cuts, much less to open the show?

Just wishful thinking, I guess. AND IT'S A GREAT SONG FROM THAT ERA.

Oh, I agree; I was just reading this more as a prediction rather than 'hoping'. I'd love it, if I didn't die of a heart attack from the shock! :)
