Zoo TV Tour help!
« on: March 20, 2017, 05:27:27 PM »
I was 17 when I attended the Zoo TV tour in Dublin in Aug'93. Long time ago!

I've been trying to "trace" a particular thing about it. There was a segment around the show that depicted a news anchor apparently reading the news into the camera. All seemed normal until you did a double take and realised the guy was talking complete nonsense. The content of his news report was a word play - he was talking seamlessly but each sentence bore no relation to the previous one. Total garbage. Does anyone else remember this and know anything about it? I can't find it on YouTube or anywhere else online.

Yes - that's it! Thank you for that, had been looking for it for a while. Any idea who that guy is or if there is a fuller reel available anywhere? I seem to remember he went on reading for longer!

I remember Zoo TV and ZOOROPA still to this day. The images on the screen could not be read, it was overload TV. Great shows.
Do not know anything about this news anchor, but remember his face.

I think it's also on the Greatest Hits 1990-2000 dvd, just before UTEOTW.

Wasn't he called Rex Fox, or something like that?

Earlier today, I, unsuccessfully, tried to find his name. I remember once finding it, back in the day; but, I have, thus far, been unsuccessful in doing so again today.

I don't know who the guy is, but the first time I saw it was on the Fox Zoo TV Thanksgiving special.  IIRC, there are like 3 or 4 clips of him talking between the other concert clips and the other weird stuff--he even signed off each segment with a different, nonsense name.  (Pretty sure he was "Bob Evans" at one point.)  It's also included, in full, in the almost-identical-but-not-quite Zoo TV special that's included in the Achtung Baby Super/Uber sets--I think that was the European version of the Fox special.  To be honest, I had no idea they used it during any of the actual shows.  I have the Zoo TV Dublin radio broadcast, but don't remember hearing it.

I thought he gave a different name in each segment. Maybe not.
