I love when a poem about bombs and Armageddon dissolve into fashion statements about sunglasses. Whose sunglasses? Those sunglasses. His sunglasses? Why sunglasses? Why sunglasses? Do you need sunglasses? Do you need sunglasses? Yes. Yes. Yes. Indoors? Yes. Indoors? Yes. Why those sunglasses? These sunglasses? Yes. The round ones? Yes. Who wants the round ones? Not me.

Is this "deep"? I don't get it.

You gotta spend some time in Europe to understand poetry and its delivery. Maybe take a course on it if you are interested. But what keeps me coming back to this band is videos like this in which Bono mines his depths and expressions.

Bono is a very cultured individual, isn't he? Sad to see his efforts spent on projects like "The Best Thing". He's above that stuff.

Bono should play Sleep Like A Baby Tonight after reading Ginsberg.

No; Ginsburg is covered under the Polanski Exception for artists.

Pretty much. Ginsberg was a member of a notorious pedophile club, but hey, he wrote great poetry.

And given the fact that it turns out Michael Jackson's computer was supposedly full of child porn, can we at LEAST treat him like we are treating Cosby?

Agreed, Dave. I deleted MJ from my iTunes. Touch a kid and you're out, I don't care how good your art is. Lives > Art.

I am going to put it like this - and then leave it to hang....

I have seen it stated very clearly by the forums admin and mods here that "stating things as inarguable facts" and we are talking about things which are actually pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things like 'ATYCLB is rubbish' for example is not the kind of stuff people want to see here...... and that it switches people off from wanting to post here/spoils conversation etc....

There has been pretty heavy discussion on this and people have fed back to the forum saying it turns them off here/stops them from posting etc....hey go and read the long exchanges I had in a thread with the admin and mods about that kind of stuff - it is in the feedback section...

Surely stating as a fact that Jackson 'touched kids' when he was never convicted of doing so and was in fact found not guilty at trial is much, much worse behaviour than that and as such has no place here i would imagine...

This is a forum where we can't discuss politics and other 'hot button' topics......so yeah to effectively call Jackson a paedo is in my view a 'big claim'.

This is a forum where saying 'ATYCLB is rubbish' is seen as being poor form - so again yeah i'd say what you are saying is a 'big claim' in terms of where you have made it.

I agree with An Tha.

But I'd like to add another obvious thing: the quality of an artist is not measured by his character.

One can be evil and yet a great artist. Ginsburg's poetry should be read even if the man himself should be censored.

100% agreed. That's all I'll really say as I don't want to start an argument...just don't believe everything that is written here or elsewhere about a person. Take the time to research the matter, look for some unbiased reports, then make a judgment.

I guess there is a debate to be had between art vs the artist, but in the case of MJ, pretty much everyone is acting like it never happened.  Given the ever growing list of minor infractions that WILL get you exiled from the Polite Society of the entertainment industry, you'd think he would have crossed that line long ago. But nope.
