My cover of Red Hill Mining Town
« on: April 08, 2017, 04:03:56 PM »
Been a long time since i been on the forum, but I just finished recording my favorite tune off of The Joshua Tree, and thought this would be a good place to get some feedback.

Ive always wondered why Bono didn't do the chorus the way I have here in order to pull it off live....

I'm curious to see if maybe thats how he'll pull it off this year! Ive always done it this way with falsetto because I think it works wonderfully.

Let me know, good or bad, what you think, folks. I welcome all thoughts.

Not bad! I feel like you used too much echo on your vocals, though. That can be very distraction in some places where you cut off early. Also, when you're singing the pre-chorus the vocals become too loud. If I were you I'd focus on mixing/mastering your tracks a little better.

Other than that, it was very great! That hopefully means a lot coming from somebody that doesn't particularly love this song.

Thanks, I appreciate the input.

tbh....i didn't get around to mixing/mastering because this was a home recording...and i'm not that "advanced" yet. This was pretty much my first rodeo of SELF-engineering.

Well, I kind of figured that. If you do want to take that step, though, definitely check our Final Touch Pro. If you recorded this with GarageBand, then maybe go with Logic Pro first for a less steep learning curve.

Yeah...im using Logic Pro. This was more or less an icebreaker with doing home recording. I'm very much a beginner, haha.
