The whole track is quiet bright, especially the cymbals, but I think that's more to do with the radio stations audio processing than the actual track.

Actually it's fine, but I don't see the point. It's not different enough to have been needed.

I agree with this.  It's a song I've always liked but why is this remix/partially new vocal needed?  The alterations to the song are hardly radical and don't justify the hype this has been given.

I think the new ending in itself justifies the release but, I agree, it didn't need a new vocal at all. A new mix would have been fine.

Yes. To quote bono himself, we're waiting on the crumbs from his table.

RHMT... Don't get me wrong, I think it's alright.. but that don't impress me much..

Little bit embarrassing that they had Bono just record new vocals for the verses and didn't even bother with the chorus.   Plus, the new vocals we do get are heavily and obviously autotuned.  Just do an actual remix of the original performance or a whole new one.

He sounds great on XXX with Kendrick.  I guess more support for the theory that that was just something they had laying around.  I really hope his vocals on SoE are better than the ones on this new mix.

and it's here on Spotify and Itunes as well in Los Angeles.

Now that I've heard the full version, I do have say that I enjoyed it more then I expected. Although I still would have
to say I'm not a fan of the horns being up in the mix, and would've liked to hear how Bono would sing the chorus in 2017 as opposed to them using the '87 vocals.  Otherwise, I really liked how the song really peaks at the end and of course now I'm ready to hear it live!!

 8) :D

So how are we to interpret Bono's recent comment: "I used to write songs that I couldn't sing. And sometimes that was OK because the strains of the notes I couldn't reach was part of the drama, but occasionally they would really just wreck the next show. So I just left 'Red Hill Mining Town' off. But since then, I sing a bit better -- or at least I've learned how to sing."
So on this tour will he sing it differently than the album version, but better?

Listened to it a few times on Spotify. It's amazing in the sense that it may be the first time somebody has sung a duet with himself. I am hoping that the remastered version sounds as clear as this one

IMO the entire vocal recording is new.
