U2.com "gift"
« on: April 20, 2017, 11:10:56 AM »
Yes, I know this has been talked about ad nauseam, but are we ever going to get a new gift from this "fan club"?

The amount of time this has taken is a joke at this point. Anyone awake over there? It's almost May!

I will laugh when I get an e-mail in January asking if I want to re-up. lol

Indeed.  While I, too, am eager to find out what the "gift" is, newly-created threads like this one make me think something's been announced.  Alas.

Well, this is the same band that says a new album will be out by such and such date...and then that gets delayed. Should we really expect any different of the fanclub gift?  ;)

My guess is they originally had something ready to go that was tied in to the release of SOE.  When that got scrapped for the backup plan of TJT anniversary, they were caught with their knickers down and had to go ahead with the renewal announcement--with nothing in the pipeline.  Hence, the photoshopped postcard of past gifts wrapped in twine.

The gift now is likely tied-in to TJT and in production, whatever it is.  Perhaps a printed photoshop postcard with twine to hang on your wall with last year's posters, or a Joshua Tree bookmark and paper clip.

At this point, I'd take a nice JT anniversary tour t-shirt as a gift.
