Orginal TJT and TJT30 Tours
« on: April 24, 2017, 06:42:55 AM »
Did you attend the original JT Tour, what was the date(s) and where?  Did you also or are you planning to attend TJT30?  What is the date(s) and where?  I am curious to see how closely the two dates align and if you will be seeing them at the same location, especially since some of those venues don't exist anymore and they are not touring the same locations.

Here are mine

Original - Oct 1 1987 - Montreal - Olympic Stadium
TJT30 - June 25, 2017 - Foxborough MA - Gillette stadium

So 30 years and 4 months apart as well as 350 miles apart

I was 12 and my Mom wouldn't let me go to the local stop.

No and probably not.
We didn't get the original JT tour in Australia and we aren't getting this one either.

Going with the same person both times.  Will be an interesting trip down the lane of old memories.

They really haven't been very good to their fans down under over the years have they?

How does they compare to similar 'sized' acts in terms of coming down to your part of the world?

According to ATU2 tours stats, they have been to Oceania 81 times, placing Australia & New Zealand 3rd on the list of most visited continents.  Granted there is a big drop off from Europe in second at 818 to 3rd place, but down under is not the easiest place to get to.

1st time they were down there was in 1984.  Most recent was 2010 so that averages out to a bit of once every 3 years. So, in theory, they should have been there between now and 2010.

Springsteen has been there 60 times as one comparison.  That spans 1985 - 2017
Pink Floyd was there 24 times from 1971 - 1988
Coldplay 70 times from 2001 - 2016

I haven't been to the original JT Tour - I wasn't into U2 at that time (I was stupid!) and didn't go to a lot of concerts anyway.
This year I'll see them twice - in Berlin and Amsterdam.

seems that they get a roughish deal from many artists then....thanks for the research!
