Streets - JJT Tour 2017
« on: May 05, 2017, 05:32:40 PM »
I really hope U2 play Streets with some ferocity this time round. The song has lost so much of it's power in recent years I really hope they can reconstruct it and play it like they did up until the elevation tour. It was so powerful back then and the years which preceded it.

It's got to be loud, played with a super amount of energy and really owned by the boys on this tour. I don't want anything like an I&e version, it disappeared like a fart in the wind on that tour.

Be ferocious Edge and Larry, roll back the years on the this live anthem! Think Boston Elevation on steroids. You can do it.

And no messing with lyrics and trying to make it topical. Alright Bono?

Part of it is due to the fact they haven't played it in the original key since ZooTV

The long long intro is something I miss very much, but I like Streets in the I&E Tour. They slowed down the tempo a bit and made something freshier to my ears.

That's just me, though.

If they can bring me to tears like they did when they played it as the opener to the original JT tour back in '87 at Wembley Stadium, London, I will say "Job Done Boys."

IS THAT RIGHT?  I just went back and listened to clips from JT'87, Popmart, Elevation, Vertigo, and 360 (but not I+E), and while I can certainly tell that Popmart and Elevation are different keys, I didn't detect that for Vertigo and 360.  They sounded like the same key to me.  Now, I had the volume down fairly low, but later when I can turn the volume up more I'll give it another listen.  But can anyone confirm or de-confirm the key variance in all tours since Zoo TV?
