I definitely do not agree with No 1 on their list. It is a great song, it is the song at our wedding for the first dance, but definitely not their greatest song ever.

Thoughts on the No 1 and the list ?

"One" is probably not even in my top ten, although I know it means a lot to the band.  It's a strange and eclectic list, probably because it looks like it was composed by a few people.  On the one hand, they do include some great deep cuts such as "Luminous Times".  I would have placed WOWY, Gloria, and Bad higher.  (WOWY would probably be number one for me.) However, they missed some great tunes like "An Cat Dubh" and "Electrical Storm".  Overall, the list might be interesting to the casual fan as a starting point, but it's rather meaningless to those of us familiar with their catalog.

My old laptop freezes up every time I try to look at that darned list! But, if they included Luminous Times, then it is a good list...
Is Hawkmoon on it? Drowning Man?

Drowning Man is #37.  Hawkmoon didn't make the cut (sorry.)

I usually don't like to rank the top 50 but would just say "these are the top 50 in no particular order". Yet, RS numbered them, so here are my thoughts with their list:

I would move #27 - Unforgettable Fire up at least 10-20 slots.  It's certainly IMO better than Vertigo, BD, and Walk On...which are all rated higher.
I like Breathe on the list.  That's an underrated song IMO.
Pop makes a strong showing on the list - Mofo, Discotheque, Please, Gone are all on there.
Hawkmoon has a case to be on this list, but Heartland NEEDS to be on this list.  The fact that they left that off but included Sweetest Thing is criminal IMO.

I'm okay with everything else.

The Fly is missing.  Is WOWY missing as well?  I don't think anything from NLOTH should be that high.

So mostly a miss.

Wow I missed that one - Fly should definitely be on there.  WOWY I like a lot but there are so many better U2 songs IMO.  But yeah, WOWY is top 50.

That's pretty good. Nice to see non-singles and B sides there too, as well as the nods to 00's.

Only thing I'd change is to drop Walk on lower and get UTEOTW and Stay higher.

On a final note, always nice to see a U2 song list without Streets being no. 1.

The Fly isn't on the list? WHAT?
And, yeah, it makes me sad that Hawkmoon didn't make it...I don't really understand that.

It's Rolling Stone - you'd get a more credible list from john galt, il_capo, riffraff and myself after a day drinking toilet duck.

I figured you'd still be able to shout 'Streeeeeeeeeets' and 'Hawkmooooooooooon' even after such a heavy day.

Is Wire on the list? Is EP&A? Darn, I sure wish I could view it...
