Song for Someone
« on: July 10, 2017, 05:46:02 PM »
I have a question about 'song for someone'
The lyric that I'm confused by is
"You were slow to heal..
but this could be the night"

Or am I mis hearing this and is it "slow to hear" ?

If it's "heal" then what does Bono mean by that?

The lyric is definitely "heal".

As for what it means, I've always interpreted the second line as Bono trying to getting lucky one night... meaning that the one prior could be referencing the girl having a bad sexual experience in the past, so she is unwilling.

Or, it's about God. Probably just God.

I'm pretty sure the lyric is actually "heal"...
I think Wookiee's idea about the meaning is spot on, though.

There's been a lot of questions over lyrics lately.  Off the b-sides/rare tracks i understand- but isn't there lyrics included with this album?  Should be an easy answer out there.

Why don't you look it up at u2.com?
There are all lyrics.
Certainly he sings heal, I can hear it without reading the
lyrics, and I'm not a native speaker.

Why don't you look it up at u2.com?

Because the lyrics here on atu2 are much more accurate..

By the way:
1)atu2 says  it's "heal"
2)There is not a single Google return for it being "slow to hear" anywhere on the internet:

(of course, there will be in a few days, when they catch up with this thread)

It's clearly slow to heal

That's fun: you think the lyrics are more accurate in a fan portal than on the artists' "own" website :)
What about the CD booklet?
The correct word is heal, you can hear it and you can read it also there.
