Didn't the Edge mention a song called "the light (at home)".

He did.

Word is, via U2 Valencia, is that the song name may actually be "Blackout," and the aforementioned, the lights go out, is a line in the song.  Who knows?  Could be the same song.

U2 are never going to collaborate with Apple again, at least not for a major album release. That's a foolish way to give the public a reason to hate SOE before it's even heard.

I'm happy that it's something new, non-JT and not TLTTGYA.

There's an update on the atu2 homepage...

Confirmed Song filmed is called "The Blackout." A second song was played but not live, it was the CD. It's called "lights to home". (As the edge rumored to have been his favorite)

So I guess 6 confirmed songs for SOE including Red Flag Day and American Soul

"U2 are about to play two concerts at the Amsterdam Arena, but it turns out that is not their only business in town. At the Gashouder nightclub of the Westergasfabriek, the band filmed a video clip in front of a small audience on Friday night. We believe 200 to 300 people were in attendance, including some lucky fans who responded to U2.com's call for attendees earlier this week.

The video clip is for U2's next single. An anonymous attendee has confirmed to us that the song is titled The Blackout. U2 performed it live for the assembled audience five times.
After the performance, a second new song was played over the PA, entitled Lights to Home. We can confirm that U2 did not play The Best Thing (or, if they insist on another long title that will be abbreviated by all and sundry, You're the Best Thing About Me), a song that leaked online last year.

Both songs are described as groovy and nineties-sounding, with heavy bass and guitar. The Blackout has a prominent lyric about "when the lights go out" that got the audience jumping."

yea i know a hardcore fan on fb that is 100% all in that this IS the next single and there's no question that SOE will be out in Dec.

*sigh*

i brought up the This Is cover they made a video for, SBS for the Agit8 thing and Invisible. i mean this could be some one-off thing. Like This Is or Invis.

Could be. But filming, two new songs...this is SOE's first single video ? Blackout...so not Best thing about me, or the (already played live) Little things that give you away.

Getting great feelings from reading the u2gigs write up and the description of The Blackout. 90s sounding with heavy bass and guitar is enough to get the senses ringing with anticipation. With Zoo Station, Elevation and Magnificent mentioned, with the added piece about the crowd jumping at the chorus. This hints at a great hook and it could potentially be another great U2 track. Very early days but this is very exciting!

So with the 200 or so people that got in, were all their phones taken away?
If not why no clips yet?

I'd bet they had to sign a bunch of legal paper swearing to secrecy...
