For those of you that are only interested in what he has to say about Bono:

Quote
How did Bono end up on the song "XXX."?

We had a [different] record we were supposed to be doing together. He sent it over, I laid some ideas to it, and we didn't know where it was going. I just happened to have an album coming out, so I just asked him, like, "Yo, would you do me this honor of letting me use this record, use this idea that I want to put together because I'm hearing a certain type of 808, a certain drum to it." And he was open to it.

I'm confused, he says (we) they had a different record they were doing. Does that mean u2 and lamar is on another collaboration or is he referring to SOE?

There was some confusion as to why it was listed as U2 on that collaboration, when it appeared that only Bono was present on that song with Lamar. It's likely the song was initially credited to U2, because the lyrics have been taken from a U2 song, a song that will be on the new album. But the lyrics are a bit slower on the Kendrick Lamar track than on the actual U2 version.

That's a great interview!! I'd highlight some answers, but I recommend the whole reading, even if you're not a fan.

what would a sleepover with U2 entail?  Pizza, movie and braiding hair? Do I need my sleeping bag or do I get guest room with satin sheets?

Copious amounts of red wine until the wee small hours, lots of conversation and then the guest suite with the best quality ethical cotton sheets, complimentary bathrobes and room service (I imagine!)?

That was a good interview.  I'm fascinated by the way this guy thinks -- very interesting perspectives on a lot of things.  My favorite quote from the article: "Given whatever f*****-up situation that we're in, it's all about the evolution of man. People get it f***** up because they think it's the physical form. No, it's evolution of the mind."  My kid got me into him a few years ago.

Damn is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time, as far as quality of songs, political/spiritual message, commentary on today's society, and it was a massive commercial hit.  I remember reading a story that said U2 had All That You Can't Leave Behind hanging up in the studio as something to strive for.  But in my opinion, this is the album that should be hanging on the wall.  Although they're different genres, this is the kind of thing U2 used to pull of so well.

And he was open to it.

And here's the rest of the quote about Bono:
"But Bono has so much wisdom and so much knowledge, in music and in life. Sitting on the phone with him, I could talk to him for hours. The things he's doing around the world, of just helping people, is inspiring."
