This might change in a few months (weeks?!) time with the release of SOE but so far, which is you favourite U2 decade?

'90s, then the '80s. Then the rest.

As much as I love 1990s U2, the 80s.

Six albums; two definite classics (TUF, TJT), two other very good ones (War, Boy), and two good ones (October, R&H). The amount of output from that decade, combined with the quality of it as well, is very stout, marked an impressive sonic progression, and helped shaped the band's identity.

"we shall continue to abuse our position and f*** up the mainstream"

Larry sums it up nicely in this clip when speaking about Pop. He says, "Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and this record are pretty on.  They are the three records that capture what U2 is about.  They are in some ways, they are the prize..."

I went with 2010s for the fun of it. Surprised I wasn't the first vote for it. Rats. My serious vote if I could vote again would be tough to choose between 80s and 90s. AB and Pop are awesome but obviously far greater output in the 80s. If you go with quality over quantity, 90s gets it. But maybe my 2010s vote is a premonition of brilliance ahead. I do like SOI which is a useful start.

'90s for me. Saw them tree times during that decade and have great memories to this day. twice on Zoo TV and once on Popmart. The trilogy of AB,Zooropa and Pop is just outstanding creativity, production and performance. Those three albums stand still up today, unlike the 2000/10's stuff.

Hate to sounds like a broken record, but the 90s for me.  Though I do quite like their 80s output too.  I did discover them in the early 2000s with ATYCLB, so there's a special place for that one (though I concede its major flaws).

The creativity, color and coolness of the 90s is tough to beat though.  They were simply firing on all cylinders and the music was just superb.  I wish I was a fan of them during this period as it must've been tremendously exciting, just to see them on Zoo TV or Popmart alone, ugh, very jealous of those who did.  They did what many bands rarely pull off (especially most of their contemporaries), which is to reinvent their sound and image successfully.  Just brilliant.

Actually, I'd say best decade is 1983-1993 :-) Why choose between the 80s and 90s when the best of both was in one ten year span!!??!

The 90's are where they were headed and where 00's they have come back from. All other decades are merely an excuse to tell the story of the journey.
