U2.com Subscription
« on: August 25, 2017, 05:26:41 AM »
What is going on with the U2.com subscription? I have already paid for this year and redeemed the JT 2017 vinyl box. Why is it now asking me to re-subscribe and pay another $40? Has this happened to anyone else?

I think they start sending those out a few months before your subscription anniversary.

This. This probably isn't a good time to let your subscription lapse, hint, hint. :)

Other than the expected tour to support Songs of Experience and the presale opportunity, you mean?

I received an email about 3 weeks ago stating the following:

"If you opted for The Joshua Tree Singles Vinyl Collection: 1987 & 2017 as your 2017 Subscriber gift, its now in production and on track for Autumn dispatch."

I don't understand the "if you opted..." bit. It reads like I have a choice, but there isn't another choice.
I don't remember having to opt in in years past...am I not remembering?
What happens if I don't opt in?
I'm not into vinyl at all, but would prefer getting it to getting absolutely nothing.
What should I do?

You have to go online and redeem the gift/box set, they won't send anything out unless you do so. I haven't had a record player for about 10 years, I'll probably try and sell mine when/if it turns up.

I think it is because they don't want to get stuck with loads of expensively produced vinyl. Makes sense.

Reading through this thread, I'm a little confused.  I haven't had a U2 subscription in a while but I signed up again for EI tickets.  I picked the option for the Joshua Tree singles.  But it seems like I have to take an extra step to receive them?  In the past I automatically received it simply by subscribing.
