Bullet was awesome! Best thing was solid. And, I thought that sounded like Edge on the recording, well, cause it is.  8)

U2 performed "You're The Best Thing About Me" and "Bullet The Blue Sky" tonight on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.
Our staffer, Jill M., was at the taping and says it was an "anti-Trump" version of Bullet with Bono changing the lyrics from "red" to "orange" and making a reference to the President's tweeting.
She says they played Bullet first, then Bono & Edge sat down for a conversation with Fallon, then they performed Best Thing and did Bullet again. On the second version of Bullet, they had to stop and restart after about 30 seconds.
During the conversation, Bono began with a Trump joke and later called U2 "dreamers." Edge spoke about what Music Rising is doing to help with Hurricane Harvey relief. Fallon told the story about when he and The Roots joined U2 on stage in 2015. (July 22 at MSG) Fallon also held up the "Best Thing" promo image of his daughter, Sian, and said "I think you know her." Edge said he did, and said he had to give Sian a kiss (and did).
The Tonight Show is on NBC this evening after the NFL game -- check your local listings.
This post is great!  It's detailed, concise and important.  I feel lucky that I was able to read it so soon.  Normally, I end of having to check pages and pages to find the relevant information.  Is it possible for the information from this OnlyU2 post to be added to the first post in the topic?  It would offer forum members a way to discover relevant info efficiently.  I have not yet seen this idea practiced on this forum.  If it's been done before, I missed it.  The next 6 pages of this topic will probably be posts about what forum members liked or didn't like about U2's appearance on the show . . . . but those posts won't give the relevant info like this OnlyU2 post.

That link works well.

Bullet was a bit high and thin. But I think Bono did that to get the high notes in Best Thing better.

Best Thing was pretty solid. Didn't expect that. The Edge sung great.

Interview was a kind of hard to follow for me 8). Was there any news?

Thought the sound was good on Bullet and a solid performance - I actually really like angry Bono (and that performance was tighter and less explicit than the ones they did a year ago).

Best Thing was also really good (although Bono almost missed a couple of cues)  - and hearing it straight afterward just highlights how they have moved on in the composition of their songs in 30 years.  Best Thing is so much more layered sonically. Loved the shot of Larry waiting for his cue to come in (Bono starts the second line).  It was really like the band interdepended on each other as there were soft visual cues throughout the whole song.  (It's a bit like watching an orchestra/ensemble play and each section is aware of what the other section is doing).  I can hear the Motown influence now when I hear the song (and I really like it).  It's a real grower and the best first single for years - it must be that soul influence.  Likely to sound much better live once they've played it a few times - give them a chance.

Am I the only one thinking that Bono's joke about Trump's haircut is kind of ironic ? (and unnecessary)
